"Santa Anna" CEC token

A CEC source told me: "There was a token made for Santa Ana, CA. Unfortunately it was mis-spelled, the lease for the location never got signed, and the token was never put in circulation. The Santa Ana (spelled Santa Anna on the token) tokens were received at corporate headquarters in Cupertino. The incorrect spelling was noticed and the tokens were returned to the manufacturer for re-stamping, scrap, or whatever. Since the lease was never signed there were never any other Santa Ana tokens made. One of the employees had about 30 samples removed from the shipment. To my knowledge those were the only Santa Anna tokens ever in existence."

I only know of three of these tokens currently in collector hands. Two sold privately for an undisclosed amount around 1999. The third (pictured above) sold on eBay in Nov 2010 for $872.95 plus shipping. Although it is possible that a cache of these may turn up, this appears to be by far the rarest of the CEC tokens.
