About this token:
- Ulrike write: The father of my grandmother (she was born 1898 in Ofenbach
am Main ) had at this Times an inn at the corner Sprendlinger Landstrasse
- Marienstrasse (in this former times the street was named Moltkestrasse )
at Offenbach am Main . The Inn was named Gustavsburg.
- Paul writes: Token from Offenbach, Germany. Don’t know what Gustavsberg
means, maybe the name of the beer hall, or maybe it is another town name,
if he had two locations. This design of the drinking god Gambrinus appears
on many German tokens. One from Frankfurt is listed in the late-19th Century
catalog of Frankfurt numismatica by Joseph & Fellner, and dated to 1873, so
this piece is ca.1873 also. Too bad about the corrosion – a $25 token (or
more), otherwise.
