Swisstone
20mm, brass
About this token:
- Becky writes: The Swisstone “token” is not a token. It is a tab for a music box key. In the early 1960’s my teddy bear had a music box inside it. It had a Swisstone key that unscrewed in and out of the box. The one I had did not look like yours. Stylistically your key looks to be older, 1940’s or 50’s. Every now and then my key tab would come off the barrel of the key like yours. The end of the barrel looked like a crochet hook (kind of) where the tab would insert into the open edge of the hook and then secure into the barrel.
- Ola writes: we have a 'doll' - a 10" chipmunk (?) moving his arms holding
a 'Circus' harmonica - it plays a Lullaby (I think it's Schumann). The winding
key is more or less the same as the one pictured on the web site.
- Laurinda writes: I believe this is a key to the 1960's Thumbelina doll,
I have been buying them on eBay and I have noticed that some of them have
a key to wind doll up so head will move but others have a plastic knob or
a wooden knob these dolls come in 4 different sizes.
- This is apparently a winding key, rather than a token. I recieved the following
note: My mother passed away three months ago and while cleaning out her things
I came across a stuffed animal - about 6" tall 'bambi" with blue fur, black
paws, black eyes, stitched mouth and red tongue, floppy ears. It plays the
traditional lullaby and the turnkey to wind it up is what you pictured...both
sides are identical to your photo... i think it may have been purchased when
my brother was born in 1945.
