Cooper Lucky Pocket Piece
26mm, brass
About this token:
- Judie writes: I saw your note about the above Cooper Lucky Pocket
Piece and yes, this was a coin for Myers Young Cooper when he ran ..
and won the governorship of Ohio. I have one of these coins passed down through
the family.
- (Sept. 2011) Just noticed a very similar token on eBay which seller says
is from Hoover's 1928 campaign. Sold for $11 + $3 shipping (4 bids).
- Christopher writes: I have one of these and was doing some research. It
seems that everyone agrees that it was in honor of Gov Cooper. In 2004 a time
capsule was opened from a cornerstone of a bank in Westwood Ohio. The time
capsule and cornerstone were set in Feb 1929. One of the items in the time
capsule was a Cooper Lucky Pocket Piece. This would indicate that these were
produced prior to Feb 1929, most likely in 1928. I would conclude these had
more to do with Cooper’s run for Governor, than any later run for a senate
seat.
- Russ writes: I think this is a campaign token of Myers Young Cooper, Governor
of Ohio 1929-1931 (Republican)
